Personalization Tokens

What is Personalization Tokens?

Personalization Tokens (also called merge fields or dynamic variables) are placeholder text in message templates that get automatically replaced with prospect-specific data when the message is sent. Common tokens include {firstName}, {company}, {headline}, and {jobTitle}. For example, "Hi {firstName}, I noticed you are at {company}" becomes "Hi Sarah, I noticed you are at Acme Corp" for each individual recipient.

Personalization tokens bridge the gap between automation and authenticity. They let you write message templates once and have them feel individually crafted for each prospect, without manually editing hundreds of messages.

Why It Matters

Personalized messages on LinkedIn get dramatically higher response rates than generic ones. Research shows that including the prospect's name, company, or a reference to their role can improve reply rates by 30-50% compared to unpersonalized templates. However, manual personalization does not scale. Tokens let you personalize at volume, maintaining the human touch that prospects expect while reaching hundreds of prospects per campaign.
