InMail
What is InMail?
InMail is LinkedIn's premium messaging feature that lets you send direct messages to people outside your network -- without needing a connection request first. InMail credits come with LinkedIn Premium, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter subscriptions, with monthly allocations varying by plan tier.
Unlike regular LinkedIn messages (which require a 1st-degree connection), InMail bypasses the connection step entirely. Recipients see InMail in a separate section of their inbox, often with higher visibility. LinkedIn reports that InMail has a roughly 2-3x higher response rate than cold email, partly because recipients can see the sender's full LinkedIn profile alongside the message.
Why It Matters
InMail gives you a direct line to decision-makers and prospects who would otherwise be unreachable without a mutual connection. For recruiters reaching out to passive candidates and sales reps targeting senior executives, InMail can be the fastest path to a conversation. However, credits are limited and expensive, so each message needs to count.
How LinkAngler Helps
While LinkAngler focuses on connection-based outreach through its Campaign Automation engine, understanding InMail helps you decide when a connection-first approach makes more sense. LinkAngler's Messaging features help you manage conversations that start from InMail or connection messages in one unified inbox, so nothing falls through the cracks regardless of how the relationship began.
